DIY Cold Brew
How to Make Homemade Cold Brew Coffee.
As coffee lovers, and with the warm weather fast upon us, we thought we would share some of our favorite cold brew inspired recipes and give you the “ins and outs” on how to make Caffe Ibis cold brew concentrate. Check back often for new recipes. Before we get into it. You need to know that cold brew takes time. It’s ridiculously simple to make, but the brew takes 24 to 48 hours for full extraction. The final product has a shelf life of 7 days if kept refrigerated. When normal strength cold brew is desired, dilute using a ratio of two parts coffee concentrate to one part filtered water.
Caffe Ibis Cold Brew Concentrate
- 340 grams (12 oz. bag) of Finely Ground Caffe Ibis Coffee
We recommend Light Side of the Moon or Escalante Canyons or a Caffe Ibis light roast or medium light roast of your choice that is free of “roasty” flavor attributes. For a cold brew concentrate that is not going to be used to make the Santa Clara and for folks that are looking for a slightly darker roast cold brew we recommend our Logan Canyon Blend or our Ibis Signature.
- 3.4 Liters (0.89 gallons) of clear filtered water (not distilled or reverse osmosis)
Combine the finely ground coffee with the filtered water. Stir to ensure even saturation of coffee grounds. Allow to sit at room temperature for 24 hours or 48 hours if refrigerated.
Stir periodically (4-8 times) in the 24-48 hours to help with a full extraction. After 24-48 hours, strain the liquid from the coffee grounds using some type of filter medium (strainer, butter muslin, cheesecloth, cotton, etc.). Filter again if necessary until you reach your desired clarity.
The final product has a shelf life of 7 days if kept refrigerated. When normal strength cold brew is desired, dilute using a ratio of two parts coffee concentrate to one part filtered water
